The table illustrates savings as a percentage of GDP in seven nations between 1990 and 2008. The figures are given in percentages. Overall, it can be observed that the highest percentage of GDP was in Singapore over the 10-year period, while the United States remained the smallest one throughout the same period.
Beginning in 1990, Singapore ranked first, with 43.6%. It was followed by South Korea, China, Germany, and Italy at 37.7 %, 35.6%, 25.3%, and 23.0 %, respectively. In 2000, although the percentage of GDP in most countries increased slightly, that of GDP in South Korea and Germany fell significantly at 33.6% and 20.2% by 2000.
Moving on to 2008, it can obviously see that savings as a percentage of GDP rose consistently to 48.3%, which remained the highest figures in 2008. However, the smallest number of GDP was recorded in the US, at 12.1% in the same year.
