In my opinion, there are two main problems related to excessive use of technology, such as computers. One of the principal problems with the overuse of computers is that students do not want to think critically about their problems. A good illustration of this is that students are more interested in finding solutions from Google or other relevant search engines than using their minds whenever they face any challenges. Another issue regarding the usage of computers is that students nowadays are more prone to copying writings from others from the Internet. For example, if there are any assignments given by the teachers, they sometimes copy original writings from different websites. These problems often lead to a lack of cognitive growth among the students.
However, these difficulties can be greatly minimized by taking certain helpful actions. I firmly believe that the changes must start with the educational institutions by arranging critical thinking classes as well as installing plagiarism detection software. Critical thinking classes are vital for students’ mental as well as cognitive growth. For example, a group discussion in critical thinking classes will help students solve their challenges on their own. Moreover, institutions must install software to detect copied writings whenever assignments are submitted.
