Overall, Great Britain had the highest rate of car theft throughout the period, despite some fluctuations. Sweden showed a noticeable increase, especially in the middle of the period, while France and Canada remained stable with lower figures.
In 1990,Great Britian had about 18 thefts per thousand vehicles. The figure slightly increased to around 20 in 1992,then fell to approximitaly 17 in 1993.After that,rose again about 20 in 1996.However the number gradually decline and finished at around 17 in 1999.
Sweden started to about 9 theft per thousand vehicles by 1990.After a small decrease in the early years,the rate increased steadly at approximately 14 in 1996.It then remained stable before ending slightly lower around 13 in 1999.
By contrast,France and Canada had lower and more stable figures.France fluctuated between 6 and 8 thefts per thousand vehicles,while Canada showed the lowest rates between 5 and 7 thousand the period.
