First of all, 42 percent of tourists travelled for leisure, which is almost three times bigger than people who travelled for other reasons. The same percent of people travelled for educational purposes, whereas individuals that were on business trips were 13 percent higher. In addition, it is strikingly evident that Europe was the most preferred destination (35%). Asia comes after Europe with 25%, while America was preferred by 20 percent of tourists. Furthermore, more than fifty percent tourists chose online booking, whereas one-fifth individuals made their booking through agencies.
In 2015, 200 billion dollars spent on travels, which is almost 5 times lower than 2024. Moreover, approximately 1000 millions people travelled in 2015 and the number of people had their lowest ebb in 2021. Average trip duration was 7 days in 2015 and it peaked in 2024 with 12 days.
