In discussion of work life, many hold that allocating time for their time working to do other activities should be the priority in lieu of working. Personally, I vehemently disagree with this conviction based on some reasons that are explained in this essay.
Granted, there are some clear reasons why people should not quit working to spend time doing other activities. In this contemporary era, sustaining humans’ life is heavily reliant on the annual and monthly income from working endeavors. Irrefutably, in the past, people would face much more serious risks in some aspects, such as social problems, as they were on the edge of monetary sources and employment, which is still of paramount importance in the current context. For example, India is the country which has witnessed a high number of social evils due to unemployment, such as robbing, smuggling, or harassment both inside the house and outside the street. This ultimately does a society’s disservice if not controlled carefully and having a decent job for everyone.
Furthermore, there is no doubt about the merits of maintaining individuals’ jobness which should not be ignored. Admittedly, along with the advanced technology, people can open up a different world to absorb much more treasure troves of knowledge owing to the opportunity of meeting others in another culture, which facilitates people getting to know about workplace culture and norms. For instance, getting involved in a workshop sharing the way and actual experiences of learning English may help people have deep understanding and insights into their major instead of the withdrawal from the workplace and staying at home all the time for example. This makes citizens gain more benefits from partaking in the working environment to improve and prevent their own flaws.
In conclusion, there are mixed opinions whether quitting working to do other preferred activities or not, I believe that striking a balance between maintaining the resilience in working and spending time developing other pursuits in leisure time. As such, this will entail decreased distress and increased flexibility and adaptability for people in life.
