With progression of time, the financial and emotional difficulties being faced by humankind seems to be rising. Job opportunities have become scarce, thereby increasing financial insecurity, emotional vulnerability as well as crime rate, particularly in third world countries. One possible solution to this dilemma for people skilled enough, seems to be relocation to other developed countries. This outcome, even though proves to be quite advantageous to the individual, seems to be quite detrimental to their homelands progress and economy.
Similar to each aspect of life, moving abroad has its own pros and cons. Skilled professionals such as doctors, engineers and the like, are now unable to find good career prospects in countries such as my homeland Pakistan. In their search of affordability for a higher quality lifestyle, they often migrate to developed countries, leaving behind their homeland. In doing so, they are able to greatly benefit by finally acquiring financial and emotional stability, as well as a sense of security, which they seemed to long for. They are able to have access to facilities like free medical care, recreational activities like public parks and the like. Even though relocation comes at the cost of leaving behind loved ones and starting anew in a completely new country, the benefits massively outweigh the drawbacks.
Despite having immense benefits for the migrator, I strongly feel that this is a massive setback for the home countries, as their economies suffer terribly. This constant stream of migration soon creates a significant shortage of competent professionals, thereby causing businesses to suffer. This depletion of employees causes decrease in profits and limits any further prospects of expansion. Due to lack of innovative people, new technological advancements become rare, halting social and economic development of the nation. The ultimate result turns out be increasing inflation, thereby creating unrest among people, resulting in declining peace and prosperity and increased crime rate.
In light of the above discussion, I firmly affirm that migrating from one’s homeland might award peace, prosperity and security to the individual, but ultimately brings about the downfall of their beloved country.
