The pie charts compare two years (2015 and 2040) in terms of their energy capacity across five sectors namely: fossil fuels, wind, nuclear, solar and other sustainable energy sources. Units are measured in percentages.
Overall, fossil fuels were dominant among the other energies in both years despite a modest decline while other renewables accounted for the second highest. Of particular note is solar, which represented the lowest point of the 2015, but it is predicted that it will experience a significant upward trend by 2040.
Starting with fossil fuels, they were the leading source in 2015 with incredible 64% of overall renewables, and predicted to decline until 2040 to 44%. Despite a considerable decrease, it will manage to maintain its dominant role across all energies. Followed by other renewables, the proportion of the other energies will experience a decrease trend from 23% to 21% between 2015 and 2040.
Focusing on minor sectors, there will be a significant increase in the percentages of both solar and wind, which were just 2% and 5% in 2015 than predicted to increase to 18% and 12% by 2040 respectively. However, the amount of nuclear will see a bit decrease from 6% to 5%.
