The pie charts illustrate the comparison of energy capacity percentages, namely fossil fuels, nuclear, other renewables, wind, and solar in gigawatts from 2015 to 2018. Overall, it is evident from both charts that fossil fuels are the most widely used energy source. In contrast, nuclear power has the lowest percentage among the energy capacities displayed in the pie charts.
Initially, as mentioned, fossil fuels account for 64% of energy capacity, making them the most utilized type of energy. Other renewables come in second, comprising 23%. When focusing on the remaining energy types, namely nuclear, wind, and solar, we can observe that their proportions are relatively small and not particularly significant.
By 2018, substantial changes had occurred. For instance, the share of fossil fuels decreased significantly to 20%. Meanwhile, solar energy saw an impressive increase, rising tenfold. Additionally, wind energy experienced a notable rise as well, reaching 12% in 2018.
