It is true that an increasing number of countries people are opting for urban farming, while there are benefit for this trend as it promotes sustainability and self sufficient in food production, I believe the merits outweigh the demerits.
There are a number of benefits of urban farming. One possible benefit is that it encourages sustainable of food production. By producing food in rooftops people can not only boost their economy but also incourage people to be stay active in gardinning. Which can leads them to eat fresh and authentic food, by which they can live haltheir life. Another benefit is that it allows people to stay connected to the nature, which is an excellent way to refresh the mind and accelerates productivity; for example, in the modern era, people went through excessive amount of pressure due to continuous work and examinations, therefore, if they stay connect to nature by urban farming they can live a meaningful and stess free life.
Despite the above benefits, urban gardening has some drawbacks too. To begin with, rooftop farming is costly. For example, urban farming requires enormous amout of planning, time, technologist, such as building engineers, who have to work hard to create its design. This rooftop farming not only waste lots of meterials to built but also it cannot not possible to installed in the old buildings. Furthermore, building farm in old building can lead to massive distress to environment because it can collapse due to overweight. Therefore, if anyone want to build urban farming, which will lead to exceesive amount of money for planning.
In conclusion, although there are some negative outcomes of urban farming, I would argue that its advantages outweigh the disadvantages in many perspective.
