Both pie charts illustrate the energy usage and the electricity generated by energy resources globally in previous year.
Overall. oil accounted for the highest proportion in total world energy consumption, whereas coal costituted the highest percentage in total world electricity generation. Gas represented same shares in both charts, however, other resources accounted for the least proportion.
In total world energy consumption, oil accounted for 34.3%, which was the highest proportion, coal represented the highest percentage to generate electricity, accounting for 39.8%, while other constitted the least percentage in both pie charts, accounting for 0.4 and 2.1 respectively. Gas made up approximately 20% in both charts.
However, coal made up a quarter of energy use in total, while hydro represented a moderate share in electricity, 16.1%. Combustible renewables and waste made one tenth share of energy consumption.
