The topic of how technology affects people has gained a high level of interest in today’s society. While many individuals strongly believe that it makes people become isolated , I argue that technology can improved their communication skills.
On the one hand, online relationships countribute to superficial relationships with no real emotional depth, as they lack tone of voice, facial expression and face -to- face interaction. This lead to people lacking a genuine emotionally connected, even though they might still have a hundreds of online “friends”. Beside that, with a bilion types of online games and entertainment , people tend to have less time for conversation with family or even their friends. Those factors can lead to people feeling more lonely or separated from real life .
On the other hand, I trust that technology is the best way to help people keep in touch in long-distance relationship. For instance, applications such as Zalo or Facebook are vital means of connection, with video calls and frequent messaging, no matter how far apart they are, they are able to build a strong emotional bonds . Furthermore , it also a tool that allow introverted people express themself without any pressure , which can enhance their communication with others and avoid feeling shy when having a conversation. Take may friend as an example, with a support of media platforms ,she transformed from a person who was terrified of socializing into a social butterfly.
In conclusion, it is true that agreeing with the view that technology can foster a sense of isolation is not without merit, but I remain in favor of its ability to empower introverted individuals to improve their communication skills.
