Overall, English language recorded the highest figure for two categories, namely number of people learning the language and number of categories speaking the language. In contrast, Japanese ranked last for these categories.
Out of six countries, English ranked first for two categories, namely number of people learning the language and number of categories speakin.g the languages, at 1.5 billion individuals and 102 countries , respectively, whereas Japanese had the lowest figure, at 3 million individuals and 25 countries. Following English, French had the second-highest figure for both categories, at 82 million. The number of individuals who learn Spanish was recorded almost half as less Chinese. Meanwhile Chinese and Spanish is spoken in 33 and 31 countries, respectively.
Individuals who speak in Chinese language was accounted for by approximately 1.4 billion, followed by English language, at 527 million. French and Japanese fluent speakers were comparable, at 118 and 123 million, while Italy recorded the lowest figure.
