The line graph shows the number of overseas visitors travelling to the United State for three diffrent reasons-holidays,business,visiting to friends and familly-between 1989 and 2009.Overall,holidays were the most popular for trips throughout the period.At the same time,despites some ups and downs,the numbers for business and familly visits both shows a steady increas.
In 1989,leaisure travell werethe largest group at about 6.2 million.This number grew rapidly to hit a peak of nearly 10 million in 1999.After dropping to 9 million by the end of the periodstaying higher than any other category.
For business travel,the figures first fell from 5.2 to 4 million in the first 2 years.However ,the number then shot up to around 7 million in 2000 and stayed stable for a year before reaching its highest point at 8 million.After that ,business visits dropped steadily untill 2009.Meanwhile,people visiting friends and relatives increased gradually,peaking at nearly 7 million in 2004.
