Band 5+: IELTS Academic Writing Task 1: You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The chart below shows the number of households in the US by their annual income in 2007, 2011 and 2015. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

The bar chart classifies the families according to their salaries per year in 2007, 2011 and 2015.

It is clear that 2015 witnessed the significant number of households that took advantage of high salaries, while 2007 was majorly consisted of wealthy families, it had the least number of penurious people.

According to the chart, 2015 had the highest number of wealthy people by 33 million, while this record was followed by less privileged group by 15 million. In 2011 the groups with highest incomes had the least number of 27 million besides other two periods. That year, the second rich group families also exhibited the least record among others at 13 million. Like 2015, in 2007 fortuned people were ranked first in terms of quantity with almost 30 million whom were followed by households earning between $50,000 and $99,999 by 14 million.

The two low-income groups were highly congested in 2011, with total number of 58 million. In contrast, in 2007 the two joints with least income had the least total number of 52 million, while this trend after seeing a small instability, reached the second highest number of 55 million in 2015.
