Nowadays, the overwhelming majority of countries all over the world construct an increasingly high number of novel and fashionable amenities, such as sport centers and stadiums; however, the only category of people who may access them is professional athletes. Personally, I am confident that this contemporary development should be considered a negative one, since there is no evidence that well-equipped and modernized facilities will bring about more Olympiad medals. Moreover, it may lead to considerable reduction of general population health level.
To begin with, it is evident that creating specialized training centers for top athletes may assist to the consistent growth of a country’s international recognition, as analogous facilities frequently attract high level of attention. For instance, owing to the building of the Olympic sport complex in Tokiyo, there are more and more international competitions held inside it, thereby amplifying the popularity of Japan country on the world scale. Nevertheless, I assume that this is the only beneficial aspect of the development, as the phenomenon of construction sport complexes intended to professionals cannot exactly ensure better performance of local athletes in various contests. If a sports person do not obtain a reward in a competition, the budget allocated to the development of sport industry by the introduction of new amenities will prove wasted. As a consequence, a country’s internal economy would be severely affected without any profit in exchange.
Another vital repercussion to address is the deterioration of public health level within a variety of countries. By creating a variety of gyms exclusively for professionals, a country’s authorities unintentionally restrict the greatest part of local residents from doing sports. It is the case due to the distance between a person’s housing and a sport center: it is likely that people will select a gym nearby rather than located in several kilometers from their house. As the result, many people dismissed their intention to doing workouts, thereby worsening their physical health state.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that this development is mostly detrimental, as it does not guarantee excellent performances of local athletes during competitions and may negatively affect an economy and health of a country.
