The increasing amount of waste production by individual households is a growing concern among the people, as it may lead to further issues. This essay will delve into some of the dilemmas caused by large quantities of waste production and propose some possible solutions.
The primary issue with large quantities of waste production is the ability to dispose of it. While various methods exist for garbage disposal, it may not be appropriate in this particular scenario. Examples can be seen with industrial waste, whereby it is dumped into the sea, leading to the death of its inhabitants. Similarly, burning waste materials results in significant amounts of carbon emissions. Another problem is the lack of manpower to consistently collect these growing amounts of waste in each house, which would attract insects that could potentially cause other diseases.
To tackle this issue, the government should take action. To begin with, they should allocate a larger budget to waste disposal, meaning that a larger workforce should be hired to regularly collect the garbage from each household. This may prevent the accumulation of waste products and lead to a more efficient way of disposing of the products. Additionally, society can assist with this dilemma by practicing more sustainable methods with waste products, this includes reusing, recycling and reducing. For instance, in Malaysia, many recycling bins are placed in public according to the materials used (plastic, metal ,etc.). Citizens who dispose of these materials appropriately may inspire other people to do the same.
To sum up, while the large quantities of waste products are concerning, appropriate disposal techniques implemented by the government and society could potentially tackle this problem.
