Many members of the public waste a lot of time in urban centers due to the heavy trafficking. The main cause of this, is the driver’s failure to adhere to traffic rules and also insufficient highways in the cities. Arresting the offenders of the traffic rules and government building more flyovers in the metropolitan areas could be the most viable solutions.
On the one hand, the primary cause of traffic refraction is the drivers failing to follow highway rules. This is because, some drivers are in a hurry to reach their destination. This means, they will try to overtake carelessly on the areas where overtaking is prohibited hence a possible accident, which can create heavy traffic jam. For instance, in Nepal India, many drivers causes road carnages, which creates a slow movement of vehicles as the police works on the issue. To add to this, lack of enough highways in metro areas is another major contributor to traffic obstruction. In many cities around the globe, the number of people owning personal cars have increased significantly and these numbers cannot be accommodated by the few available roads. For this reason, traffic congestions become more popular.
On the other hand, arresting those who break highway rules could be a permanent solution. Those found driving recklessly for example, should be arraigned in a court of law. This will reduce the number of rule breakers hence curbing traffic jams. Additionally, the government should expand highways in towns. This can be done by introducing modern flyovers which will enable drivers to use different lanes, in and out of the central business district, thus fastening the movement of locomotives.
To conclude, I believe the ultimate cause of traffic congestion is the failure of drivers to stick to traffic regulations and few highways in the cities, while the best remedy is for the authorities to arrest those breaking the traffic laws and also expand transport systems.
