Overall, visitors mostly chose UK as a destiny due to holiday vacations in both years. The amount they spent traveling has significantly risen throughout the given period, despite some slight variations.
Concerning traveling reasons, the analyzed years have similar distributions. Despite decreasing from a 44,1% rate in 1980 to 39,1% in 2010, Holiday stood as the main reason for those travels. Visiting relatives or friends occupied the third position in 1980, accounting 18,7%, but surpassed business reasons with an increase of almost 10% in 2010, ending with 28,2%. Business experienced a smooth variation, going from 20,7 to 22,8% in the given period. Other reasons accounted for 16,6% and 9,8%, respectively in 1980 and 2010.
In terms of the tourism incomes for the UK, the amount spent by overseas travelers on land have increased in more than 50%, accounting approximately 8 billion pounds and rising to a peak of 12 billion pounds right after 1995. Following that, there was a noticeable downfall until 2022, where it stepped back to the 10 billion mark, but uplifting to almost reach the peak again after 2005, and ending 2010 right above 10,5 billion pounds.
