In sum, both males and females have the highest participation in cooking, with higher rates in the latter. The latter is also reported to contribute more time to cooking while spending the least on house repairs.
The highest number of people doing housework is involved in cooking, with 60% in males and slightly over 80% in females. As for cleaning, the second most participated chore by 60% of women, is one-and-half times more than men, whereas men’s rate in house repairs, at almost 20%, doubles women’s. Additionally, there is no significant difference in pet care participation of the two groups.
Both men and women spend the most time behind the kitchen, with an hour a day for the former and roughly 85 minutes for the latter. Compared to women, men’s time repairing the house is fourfold the time of women, consisting of 20 minutes. The amount of time both men and women spend taking care of pets is 20 minutes per day.
