Education is the process of equipping people with knowledge in order for them to function well in society. Schools are an important instance of education because schools are where children are taught so they can do well in the future. For children, however, the walls of a classroom will likely not be the only place where they have to undertake schooling. Students are probably given homework that has to be completed outside of school hours.
While homework has been a mainstay in the majority of kids’ education, views are now divided between whether homework is imperative for the education of children or if they should not be handed out at all. Advocates of homework argue that not enough time is allocated for schooling and that teaching should be undertaken at home too. In addition, homework creates a chance for students to do tasks without the supervision of teachers, ergo enabling educators to then assess the performance of their students. Moving to the other side, proponents of a no-homework system say that home is the place for kids to relax and recharge otuside of school. At home, children can be children and do anything they wish. From my own experience though, time at school is often not adequate to support a child’s education. Children are not also as challenged at schoolwork compared to homework. Thus, homework should still be given out as usual.
In conclusion, homework should remain to be an option for teachers to further teach endow knowledge on to students. School hours may not be enough to fully educate children and there are barely any possibilities at the classroom for kids to learn completely by themselves. Both of these problems are negated by the assigning of home tasks.
