The charts illustrates the changes in household with electrical appliances in percentage and number of hours spent on housework per week, per household between 1920 to 2019.
In the first chart, it clearly observed that the use of electrical appliances increased between 1920 to 2019. In 1920, use of the Refrigerator was 0%, it jump up to 100% in 1980 and stayed stable. Following this trend Vacuum cleaner rose from 30% in 1920 to 100% in 2019. In contrast, the use of Washing machine increased till 50 years but in 1960, it slightly dropped and increased again stably up to 75% in 2019.
The second chart shows the rapid decline of hours of housework per week. In 1829, people spent 50 hours in week to do their housework but it gradually decreased till 2019 to only 10 hours per week.
Overall, the use of the electrical appliances increased and hours of housework decreased in household over a century.
