Scientific advancements in agriculture are always very beneficial. I strongly disagree with the idea since there are concerns about potential health risks and environmental harm.
There are some reasons why I believe that could lead to raising concerns about potential health risks. The use of pesticides and herbicides on food production can bring several health problems particularly when consumed over time. For example, farmers who always work with this kind of poisonous things are at an increased risk of acute poisoning which can cause several medical conditions such as dizziness, headaches and nausea, but in most cases it can end with death.
The environmental harm caused by pesticides and herbicides is another critical concern. The widespread use of pesticides can be disastrous for pollinators such as bees and they are also harmful to humans because of using them nearby water sources because this not only harms aquatic life but also compromises the safety of drinking water. For instance, the decrease in bee populations has been connected to neonicotinoids, a class of pesticides, endangering food production because bees are essential for pollination. Furthermore, these substances have the potential to leak into adjacent water sources, endangering aquatic life and contaminating drinking water. In addition to having an impact on the environment, this directly endangers human health because drinking contaminated water can cause major health issues.
In conclusion, while scientific advancements in agriculture may offer benefits, the risks associated with pesticides and herbicides cannot be ignored. The health dangers to farmers and consumers, along with the environmental harm to pollinators and water sources, highlight the negative consequences of these practices.
