Art is one of the major components of each society’s culture and has a deep impact on individuals lives. Governments, noticing its power, always strive to harness this effect through centuries, artists have fought for their autonomy. Many, myself included, believe that expressing opinions without fear should be everyone’s right, and any confinement for artists from authorities results in stemming their creativity.
It is widely recognized that creativity and brainstorming are mutually related with the sense of freedom that person feels. Obligating art makers to work within a predetermined frame work leads them to self-censor. For instance, the North Korea’s government by determining strict boundaries for artists in various field has led to a considerable reduction in number of the art products in the country.
On the other hand, it is of prime crucial for any authorities to give their citizens the freedom to express their idea, in other word, the amount of freedom that has been offered to artists as a small segment of society, represents the governments whole policy regarding the issue. For instance, the authorities that suppressing their citizens for a vague piece of art such as movie, are most likely apply the same approach toward newspapers and media.
In conclusion, I believe that due to afore-mentioned reasons, the art should not have a frontier, and concerning about censor and potential measurements from governments will negatively impact artists ‘creativity. Moreover, it is paramount for them as well as other members of community, to freely express their opinions.
