Many people believe that the most viable solution to avoid environmental pollution and road gridlock is to increase cost for gasoline. While other part of people argue that this initiative would not tackle the environmental impact and traffic congestion at all. Moreover, it would bring to social and economic issues in the countries. However, this essay totally agrees with the statement that high fuel cost would impact on both factors: on ecological contamination and traffic jam itself. Ultimately, a high price for petrol would dramatically decrease the number of car ownership and it would lead on low flow of emissions from automobiles and reduce traffic jam in the road.
On the other hand, due to high petrol cost, those countries without fuel and lubricants manufacturing could struggle with heating homes, maternity hospitals, educational institutes, clinics, and many other essential residential apartments during winter season. Therefore, the government of these countries would be able to invest most part of their budget for buying high-cost fuel and lubricants. While they must allocate resources to other critical areas such as education, health, innovative technologies, and many other social services. Since, we live in a globalized market a high petrol cost would negatively impact on other business sectors, particularly it would bring in supply chain disruptions between countries.
However, to prevent harm to environment and reduce traffic gridlock in the road it would be better to raise fuel cost. As automobiles are the biggest environmental issue that sources of greenhouse gases, with emissions rising day by day. Furthermore, most of cosmopolitan cities such as Almaty, which is one of the biggest cities in Central Asia has been struggling with traffic congestion and air pollution for last decades. Also, most of locals are suffering from respiratory diseases. It has been reported by the region Local Public Health Organization. Considering the above-mentioned factors, it is crucial for the government to invest in electric cars to replace public transportation powered by fuel or gas. In addition to this, I recommend that the state to create more cycling lanes and promote walking campaigns to encourage a healthier lifestyle.
In conclusion, each country should adopt a balanced approach, considering that high fuel costs have both advantages and disadvantages.
