The bar chart provides information about the percentage of people that lived in urban areas in different continents of the word in 1975 and 2020, and predictions for 2050.
Overall, it can be seen that urban populations has been increased and is expected to continue growing by 2050. Conversly, Oceania presented a stable trend. In addition, North America has the largest percentage of population in urban areas, while Africa the lowest.
Most regions increased their urban population until 2020. North America lead the ranking and is expected to have almost 90% of people living in urban areas by 2050. It was closely folled by Latin America and Europe which are also expected to be around 80% and 90% by the end of the period.
Africa showed the smallest number of people living in cities, however, the percertage is supposed to increase to nearly 60% in 2050. Asia also presented smallest numbers, reaching over 65% in the future. Unlike the rest of the regions, Oceania presented an steady precentage of around 70% in 1975 and 2020, being the only exception to the general trend.
