Overall, it’s clear that the percentage of boys more than girls on two sports and girls also attend two types of sports more than boys. But some Australians did not attend any sports.
Looking at the details, the percentage of boys on different sports was relatively different. The proportion of boys who attended football was highest at 20%, swimming and basketball came next with 13% and 7% respectively. The lowest figure belonged to netball at only 2%, but approximately 4% of Australian boys did not attend on any sport in 2010.
As for girls, statistics of girls were also different. The percentage of girls who participated on netball came out on top with 17%, eight times as high as boys. The second place was occupied by swimming, at 16% and basketball came next at approximately 6%. Football made up the smallest figure at only 4%. Girls who did not participate on any sport more than boys, at 5%.
