The maps illustrate the current layout of Islip town centre and the proposed development plan.
Overall, significant changes are planned, including the addition of new housing areas and transport facilities. The main road will be modified, and a dedicated pedestrian zone will be introduced.
At present, shops line both sides of the main road, with housing located to the south and open countryside to the north. A school is positioned in the southwest, while a large park is in the southeast. The main road passes through the town centre, providing access to these areas.
In the future, the main road will be converted into a dual carriageway surrounding the central area. The shops on the northern side will be replaced by a shopping centre, alongside a bus station and a car park. The main road through the town centre will become a pedestrian-only zone. Additionally, new residential areas will be developed to the east and west, reducing the park’s size. The school, however, will remain unchanged.
