The image illustrates a coal mining site before and after redevelopment.
Overall, the elimination of office, staff changing room, medical room, lorry park and waste tips created space for the introduction of museum, cafe, souvenir shop, footpath, digger driving track, picnik area, and children’s play area during the period. Additionally, the remaining areas – car park and entrance for underground mine for workers – stayed largely intact, with minor changes.
Before redevelopment, working mine had a narrow range of amenities. In the northern boundary of the area, office were located, with the staff changing room and car park in the west. The entrance for underground mine for workers, medical room and lorry park were all situated in the center. Moving eastward, waste tip 1 and waste tip 2 could be found.
After redevelopment, visitors’ attraction had undergone significant makeovers. The addition of museum came at the expense of removing the previous office and staff changing room. Likewise, demolishing the medical room and lorry park made room for the cafe and souvenir shop with footpath. Finally, waste tips changed digger driving track, picnik area, and children’s play area.
