The stacked bar chart displays the total revenue of a pharmaceutical company by region during the period 2002–2006.
Overall, this company had a large consumer market, including Asia, Europe and Africa, North America, and South America. Meanwhile, the other regions experienced fluctuations and decreases in their average turnovers; total medicine consumption in Asia was observed to have the most stable growth among all.
As can be seen in the chart, the total sales in Asia gradually increased from 12% to 28% between 2002 and 2006. In contrast, North America’s market witnessed a decline in sales, with revenue dropping significantly from approximately 33% to 21% in the final two years of the period.
Apparently, although the total sales in South America were considerably smaller than those in Europe and Africa, these two consumer markets underwent similar fluctuations. The total revenue in Europe and Africa initially stood at 44%, peaked at 49%, and then fell to 40% at the end. Similarly, total consumption in South America reached its lowest rate at 6% in 2004, and its highest proportion at 11% in 2002, 2005, and 2006.
