The diagram illustrates how sugar is made from sugar cane.
Overrall, the process consists of 7 steps, beginning with growing sugar cane plants and ending with drying sugar crystals ready for consumption.
Initially, the process begins with cultivating sugarcane plants, which take about 12-18 months to fully mature. The fully developed sugar cane ready to cutting down from the root. Then, the mature sugarcane is harvested either mechanically or by hand and after that, these sugar canes are crushed into juice by certain professional machine.
At step 4, the extracted juice is passed through a limestone filter to remove unwanted debris. Then, the purified juice is evaporated to produce a syrup. This syrup then undergoes a centrifuge process, separating the sugar crystals from the remaining liquid. In the final step, the crystals are dried, cooled and stored in large containers, ready to be packaged and distributed.
