This time of year is my favorite as it is celebrated with great love and empathy here. In our country, the tradition for New Year’s Eve on 31st December involves making a wish or a resolution for the upcoming year, hoping for more peace and success in our lives.

On the morning of New Year’s Day, it is customary for people to start their day with prayer and by giving to the less fortunate, believing that it brings positive energy for the year ahead. Families then visit their loved ones, warmly welcoming them into their homes. Elders in each household give money to the younger ones in little red envelopes along with well wishes and success tips. The New Year celebrations in my country are always heartfelt and joyous.

People enjoy cooking delicious meals and sharing them with their loved ones. In the evening, families go shopping, and ladies particularly look forward to the discounts on their favorite brands.
