The chart shows the proportion of people with four different age groups who visited gym at least once from 1990 to 2010 in Europe.
Overall, it is noticeable that the number of people in all age groups visiting gym centers had increased over the given period. Specifically, population in the age range between 18 and 44 maintained the dominance in visiting gyms, while it was less popular for people in older age group (45 and over).
At the beginning of 90s, there were just small proportion of people visiting gym centers, having just under 10% of the population. However, after 1995 the percentage of people attending gym centers started to going up and reached 60% at most by the end of 2010, which means that people started to taking care about their physical wellbeing more.
Before 1998 the gym centers were mostly visited by the age group of people reaching middle ages (25-34) accounting for 30% at most. However, in the following years, after 1998 its dominance was replaced by young generation between 18 and 24 reaching the 60% by the end of 2010, meaning that youngsters in this age group became highly interested in maintaining their physical health. Meanwhile, population between 45 and over are in the last place of the list, by reaching only 22% by the end of a given period.
