The graph illustrates the proportion of people with four different age groups_ 18-24, 25-34,35-44, and 45 and over_ who visited the gym during a month over 20 years, from 1990 to 2010.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of people with 18-24 ages increased significantly to reach the highest percentage throughout the whole period. The second group ranging from 25 to 34 ages followed the similar pattern and rose sharply by the end. While, two remained categories (35-44 and 45 and over) started at the same level, 35-44 ages group experienced rapid growth and created a noticeable gap.
With regard to the youngest group people (18-24), initially stood at around 8% in 1990, then increased in a dramatic manner, rising from 8% to roughly third percent in 1998. Then it overtook the second group figure (25-34), going up by 30% in 2006, showing the highest figure over the 20-year period. Eventually, throughout the two final years, it slightly decreased to approximately 57%. In addition, 25-34 age groups follow the same pattern, starting roughly 8%, increasing to 50% by the end.
In contrast, two remained categories including 35-44 and 45 initially began at about 5%, then the proportion of 35-44 age group fluctuated slightly to reach fifth percent in 2006. Finally, it rose sharply to roughly 40% by 2010. Regard to 44 and over age group, it grew slightly by 5% from 1990 to 2006, then witnessed a sharp rise to 20% by the end.
