The bar graph below presents the number of male and female students enrolled in art- related subject at a British university in the year of 2011.
In general, the number of female students is higher than the number of male students in five disciplines, except for Art and Design, in which of the around 320 students, 170 are male and 150 are female.
Howerver, in this subject as well as in Linguistics, English language and literature, History and Archeology, and Communication and Media Studies, the difference between the number of female and male students attending this subject is not significative, except of the subjetc of Philosophy. In this subject, the number of female students is three times higher than male students- there are 150 female students enrolled and only 50 male students.
Besides this, the areas with the highest number of students are language-based areas: Linguistics, Ensglish language and literature and Communication and Media Studies, with a total of around 420, 480 and 435 students respectively.
Overall, there are more female than male students attending these 6 subjects, but the difference in numbers, is not expressive. Futhermore, we can notice that the areas with the highest number of enrolled students are language-based.
