It is true that today’s schools are significantly experiencing disciplinary problems. While certain people believe that teachers should take actions to support discipline, others think that parents should be responsible for their children. In my opinion, to make children disciplined, both teachers and parents should work together.
On the one hand, discipline is increasingly becoming an issue at schools and is deemed by some as the responsibility of teachers. That is, children usually spend 4 to 6 hours of their time at school with their teachers. As such, teachers have an influential effect on children and they can teach students what is right and wrong. In case of any misbehavior, such as playing truant, teachers can have conversations with children and also can punish them, if necessary. This will be a lesson for other children in the classroom who misbehave.
On the other hand, other critics believe that parents need to discipline their children. This is because they know their children much better than everyone else, making them right people to discuss and tackle any disciplinary matters. Unlike teachers who have many students in the classroom, making it difficult to engage with each individual student, parents can allocate their time to identify any misbehavior and take necessary steps. For instance, a child may misbehave because they encounter any psychological disorders which will require parents to take children to doctors.
I think in order to overcome children’s discipline problems, both parents and teachers should collaborate together. That is, teachers should inform parents about any disruptive behavior of children and discuss underlying reasons with them. For instance, considered a child is naughty at school and interrupt the class, Teachers can first talk to that child and attempt to understand the reason behind their misbehavior. At the same time, children’s behavior at school can be compared to that of at home, which will require teachers and parents collaborate together. This will make sure that children’s behavior are being closely observed by parents and teachers to effectively understand the problem.
In conclusion, some think that to make children behave properly at school, teachers should be responsible as they can discipline misbehaved children through conversations and punishments. Unlike this, parents are also considered right people to discipline their children. I believe that discipline can be effectively achieved through collaboration of parents with teachers.
