My mother tongue is Cantonese, and I have also learned Spanish. It was not long ago. I just took a Spanish course in my university half a year ago, and then surprisingly, I got a pretty good grade, so I decided to take the intensive class about Spanish during my summertime. My first exposure to Spanish was from a very famous drama called Money Heist on Netflix, and the whole drama is spoken in Spanish. That's the moment where I found this language is very exotic and has its own beat and rhythm, and also very rich in its original culture. On top of that, Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world, especially across Latin America and also in the US. So I think if I could master Spanish and be able to use it at a conversational level, it would really open the door for me to explore the Hispanic culture and also widen my horizon globally. As I said, I had a regular course in the university, so I learned with a Spanish native speaker teacher, so it was very regular, and I learned it in a very methodical and theoretical way, so it was quite good. I think in general, Spanish is far from a difficult language to learn because of its phonetic features and also similar vocabulary to English. But one thing that really struggled me is the talking speed of Spanish-speaking people because they usually talk really fast, and it really takes a lot of effort to figure out what they have said in the recording. So yeah, that's the only part of difficulties that I could think of when I learned Spanish throughout the over half year.
