The first bar chart depicts the proportion of male and female in Great Britain who had driving licenses. The second bar chart illustrates the share of male and female at the age of 17-20 ages who were juvenile drivers. Both of the charts provide information from 1976 to 2006.
Overall, it can be seen that the percentage of woman with driving license in total increased steadily, in contrast to men, whose proportion grew insignificant. While the number of young drivers declined among both men and women.
Looking at the first chart, it is noticeable that the percentage of women doubled from 30% to 60% for thirty years. Next every five years, increased marginally by 3 to 7 percent. From 1976-1981, the share of man with driving license in total remained unchanged (70%). However, then slightly grew from 72% to 80%.
Looking at the second chart, it is worth to mention that the percentage of male drivers between 17-20 years old fell from by 5% from 50% to 45%. While the share of young female drivers dropped by 10% from 30% to 20%.
