Dear Amy,

How are you doing? It was nice to hear from you after a long time. I am glad that you have become a teacher, just like our dream when we were young.

I noticed you are looking for advice on issues you are currently dealing with. Since I had a similar problem when working at my previous center, I completely understand what you are going through right now.

Actually, this is a common problem that most teachers like us usually have to encounter and tackle when starting our careers. Sometimes the students get bored and try to do other activities during the lectures that disturb your teaching. Even some students have a bad attitude toward their teacher. It was such an unpleasant experience that I had been through that I had considered quitting my job.

However, I soon realized that there are some ways to tackle the issue, thanks to certain helpful suggestions from my fellow teachers. Let’s stay calm and have a soft behavior. You can ask your students questions or give them some assignments when they are distracted in class. If they don’t answer the questions in front of many other students, they might feel ashamed. That can help you resolve the situation at the moment. You can also request that the student meet with you after class to investigate the causes of the incident and discuss appropriate behavior. Since I’ve applied these methods and got pretty good results, I believe this method can work for you as well. I strongly advise you to try it.

I hope you could solve your problem, and I hope you don’t be stressed with it because everything in life is only tough at first as long as you keep going and stay calm in order to find a good method for it.

I look forward to seeing your response.

Best wishes,

Kayla Pham.
