2 charts below illustrate Canada’s and Poland’s percentage of income spent by young people on different areas.
Overall, Canada spends the most money on leisure, while Poland’s young people spend most of their income on studies.
In Canada, young people tend to spend their income evenly across the six categories. The highest proportion is spent on leisure activities, which accounts for 20% of their income. Clothing follows closely at 19%, while housing and food both make up 16%. Transport and studies receive slightly less, at 14% and 15%. This shows that Canadian young people prioritize lifestyle and personal spending, such as leisure and clothing, while still maintaining spending on essential needs like housing, food, and education.
In contrast, young people in Poland spend a significantly larger portion of their income on studies, which is at 43%, the highest percentage among all categories in both countries. Transport comes next at 26%. The remaining categories, clothing 11%, leisure 10%, housing 5%, and food 5% receive considerably less attention. This shows that Polish young people are more focused on education and transportation needs, while placing less financial emphasis on entertainment and daily living expenses compared to the Canadian people.
