The line graph depicts data about the percentage of urban population in four Asian countries and shows that there were upward trends for all the countries.
When looking at the percentage of population living in Malaysis and the Philippines, the starting figures of both countries were at similar levels, but the population in Malaysia is projected to increase higher than for the Philippines. In 1970, the figure for the former stood at 30% and about 31% for the latter, but the figure for Malaysia rose to roughly 49%, which was a slightly higher than the figure for the Philipphines that increased to around 46% by 1990. After that, the pecentage of urban population in Malaysia is estimated to reach about 83% by 2040, which will be the highest figure among all the nations given. In contrast, the figure for the Philippines is predicted to increase to about 52% by 2040 which will be the third highest percentage.
It is immediately evident that the percentage of urban population in Indonesia had the lowest starting level. In 1970, the figure began at around 12%, but it grew significantly to about 52% by 2020 and it is predicted to rise to about 60% by 2040 which will be the second highest percentage of urban population. However, the percentage of Thailand population living in cities stood at about 19% which was a little higher than Indonasia, but the figure is estimated to grow to only about 45% which will be the lowest percentage of the four countries given.
