Overall, the sales of children’s books increased significantly, while the sales of adult fiction declined sharply. Sales of educational books also showed a downward trend.
In 2002, adult fiction books recorded the highest sales, at approximately 45 million dollars. By contrast, educational books had the lowest sales, at around 25 million dollars. During the same year, children’s books accounted for about 32 million dollars in sales.
Over the following years, sales of children’s books rose steadily and reached approximately 55 million dollars by 2006. In contrast, the sales of both adult fiction and educational books decreased. By the end of the period, in 2006, sales of these two categories were almost equal, at around 30 million dollars each.
