Overall, what stands out is that although the manufacturing field in Town A was at the leading position, in 2010 people working in the service sector became the dominant group. Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector in Town B had the highest proportion in both 1960 and 2010.
Regarding Town A, in 1960 the manufacturing sector made up 41 percent, while the sales and service sectors shared almost the same level 30 percent and 29 percent, respectively. However, in 2010 the situation changed considerably, service sector made up almost two-thirds of the whole chart (64%). The manufacturing and sales sectors decreased significantly by almost half: from 41% to 20%, and from 30% to 16%, respectively.
Town B, in 1960, followed a similar pattern as in Town A where the manufacturing sector was at the top, accounting for 70 percent of total, while the sales sector contributed to 20 percent which was double of the service sector. Moving to 2010, the manufacturing sector decreased moderately from 70 percent to 53 percent which made way for the sales and service sectors to increase its proportion to 22 percent and 25 percent, respectively.
