The two maps illustrate the layout of an art gallery’s ground floor in 2005 and how it has changed at present.
In 2005, the entrance led to an entrance hall with a reception desk in the middle. On the left side, there was Exhibition Room 4 and a gallery office. Above that, there was a café and shop. On the right side, there were three exhibition rooms (Room 1, 2, and 3), arranged in a vertical line. Stairs to the upper floor were located in the top middle part of the plan.
In the present-day plan, many changes have been made. Exhibition Rooms 1, 2, and 3 have remained the same. However, Exhibition Room 4 and the gallery office have been replaced by a Temporary Exhibitions area and an interactive Children’s Area. The café has been removed, and the shop has become a gallery shop with vending machines next to it. A lift has also been added beside the stairs. Additionally, a ramp for wheelchairs has been built near the entrance to make it more accessible.
Overall, the gallery has become more modern and family-friendly, with new facilities for children and improved accessibility .
