The maps describe how the campus of Liverpool John Moores University was restructured over a period of 6 years, starting from 2010.
Overall, following some changes, the campus now offered a greater range of facilities. It is also worth noting that while the area was initially accessible by car, it became only reachable by public transportation after the campus reconstruction.
In 2010, the university campus had a relatively limited range of facilities. The main features of the area were three science buildings in the north designated for Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. The university library could be found to the west of these buildings while the administration building was situated in the south-east. All these facilities could be accessed by road links with roundabouts at three points. Moreover, two public parking lots were available – one across the admin building and the other further north.
By 2016, the campus had undergone a complete makeover. The most noticeable change was the merger of three science buildings into one. Additionally, an IT suite had been incorporated into the library for university use, and the library now overlooked a newly-built cafe to its south. The parking lot north of the admin building was removed to make way for a new lecture theatre while the other one was repurposed into a bus station. Last but not least, a new footpath was paved in place of the road links, making the campus a traffic-free area.
