The line chart demonstrates changes that took place in three different sectors of crime – burglary, car theft, and robbery – in New Port city center between the years 2003 and 2012.
Overall, burglary and car theft areas showed a downward trend, where burglary decreased dramatically, over the entire time period. While, robbery rates remained relatively stable during the period.
In 2003, burglary sector, which had the highest number of incidents, with just below 3500 significantly declined to just over 1000 in 2008; then hovered between 1000 and 1500 until 2012 with final value of almost 1400. Car theft area, which had the second highest figure, with approximately 2700 in 2003 dropped gradually to just below 2500 in 2012, finally, being the leader of crime types.
Robbery rates, which had the lowest values from the start to the end of the period, remained relatively stable, slightly fluctuating through the period: from just over 500 in 2003 to almost 600 in 2012.
