Overall, all the categories underwent an uptrend with some fluctuations in P&C. Further, it is of note that P&C consistently the top spot whereas P was recycled the least.
With respect to P&C and GC, they recorded an uptrend. The percentage of P&C was at 50% in 1982, after varied and reached the highest point of 80% in 1994. In contrast, the period from 1982 to 1990 witnessed a slight decrease in the percentage of GC, follow by a considerable rise to 50% 4 years later. A gradual fall was exhibited in the percentage of P&C from 80% to 70% in final years and the figure in GC was steadily climb from 50% to 60%. Moreover, P&C was the top-ranker.
By comparison, AC and P registered a consistent upswing. Specifically, the percentage of AC which were recycled moderately rose from 5% to 25% in 2002. The subsequent 8 year period witnessed a more substantial increase in the figure, reaching 45% at the end of the period. P had the same starting point as AC in 1990, and then there was a slight climb until 1994 to 7%. From that point onwards, it also modestly went up, accounting for one-fifth of AC and it was the bottom-ranker.
