Overall,Turkish economy more shifted away from traditional sectors and became more balanced across various industries.The important of agriculture and government declined,while sectors like construction,manufacturing and trade by more prominence.
To begin with, the construction sector rose considerably, increasing from only 3% in 2000 to 10% in 2016. Similarly, healthcare and education also experienced a growth in contribution, going from 12% to 17%. Manufacturing showed a slight rise, from 8% to 9%.
On the other hand, some sectors saw a decline in their contribution. Most notably, agriculture dropped sharply from 24% in 2000 to 14% in 2016, losing its position as the leading sector. The government sector also decreased from 12% to 9%, while leisure and hospitality remained unchanged at 14%.
