Healthcare and education stayed the same at 17% in both years. Trade, utilities, and transportation grew modestly from 14% to 16%. Meanwhile, the government sector’s share fell from 12% to 9%.
Leisure and hospitality experienced a minor decrease from 17% to 14%, and finance, business, and other sectors remained constant at 5% in 2000 and 8% in 2016.
In summary, agriculture declined while construction and trade-related sectors increased their role in Turkey’s economy.
