In general, All countries, except Australia, show varying degrees of improvement in the percentage of females undertaking higher education. Nevertheless, This country had the highest proportion of women entering higher education in 1980 and stay the same without any significant change.
Turning to the details, four out of the five countries experienced dramatic growth in the proportion of females participating in higher education. The United Kingdom and the United States each recorded a 20% rise, with the UK’s figure reaching approximately 55% and the US climbing to 58% by 2015. South Korea also showed a significant improvement, with its percentage becoming twice as much to 30% by 2015; however, it continued to have the lowest female participation overall. By contrast, France displayed only a small increase, moving from an initial 50% to around 54%.
Australia, it was the only country that showed no change over the period, but consistently maintained a high proportion of female participation in higher education. Notably, it recorded the highest percentage in 1980 at 68%, and by 2015, it shared the top position with the United States in 2015
