The table below presents the number of population and the house types they prefer to live in 3 areas of a big city. Overall, the numbers of citizens are almost similar, at around 32,000 residents in each area, but the choice of housing is seen to have a significant difference for each district.
Most of the residents of Central area, the area with the most citizens, prefer living in a detached house rather than other types of houses, reaching up to 39%, with semi-detached house having 10% less population as much as that of the detached house. This decrease in percentage is also witnessed in the number of terraced houses and flats, 18% and 15% respectively.
Greenpark area, with the number of population just below 32,000, is the district with the least amount of residents. In contrast, members of Greenpark area prefer living in a flat to living in a detached house, with 76% of residents living in a flat, while only 5% chose to stay in detached houses. This number is also seen in the semi-detached house, only touching 5%, with terraced almost three times of its number.
Unlike those two cities, in Southberg area, with exactly 32,000 residents, more than half of its population opted to live in a terraced house, with a quarter of them settling in flats, followed by 14% of them preferring detached houses, and only 5% living in semi-detached houses.
In a nutshell, even though the total population is almost similar, the preferrence for housing types is very distinctive from one city to another, with Central area whose citizens tend to live in a detached house, with Greenpark area showing more interest in flats, and with more than half of the residents of the Southberg area staying in terraced houses.
